Fun Bit 012 - National Day idiots

News:
An article in the my paper dated 30th July 2009 about idiots who'd pay rates of $408-468 a night at Swissotel The Stamford, $780-1800 a night at Mandarin Oriental and $1000-1400 for 2 nights at Ritz-Carlton to watch the National Day parade and fireworks.

Fun:
FFS, who the hell is that damn stupid enough to spend that kind of money on this crap when a better, longer holiday in Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam or even Hong Kong at better hotels can be had for even less money? I just spent 6 nights in Thailand and spent less than $1000 on the whole thing.

I find this so unbelievable I have to wonder whether idiots Long Li Yann and husband Jimmy Liew quoted in the article even exist.

RIP

I've been wanting to post about Michael Jackson's death for a while now but didn't get around to it. I sadly now have one more reason, the death of Sir Bobby Robson today.

Michael Jackson (29th Aug 1958 – 25th Jun 2009)
Easily the biggest artist the world has seen. I hate that we were robbed of his talent so many years ago after some profiteering bastards went and exploited his love for children. I never believed it for a second.

All the hypocrite singers who supposedly cried when MJ died should go fuck themselves. Never once did any of them try to collaborate with him when his career was down. Guess it would have been bad publicity huh?

RIP Michael, you leave behind legions of true fans and plenty of the best songs out there.

Sir Bobby Robson (18th Feb 1933 – 31st Jul 2009)
Another legend passed away today after a battle with cancer.

I best know him as the best Newcastle manager but this is a man who's done great things, including a stellar career as England manager and manager of many title-winning clubs throughout Europe. He also groomed Jose Mourinho into the manager he is today. Too bad Newcastle didn't treat him with the respect he deserved, that's just one of the many things Newcastle have screwed up on.

RIP Sir Bobby.

Football
Boohoo the football season's over. 3 whole (well, 2 now) months to wait until football starts again.

And Newcastle won't be in the Premier League this time. I know I should be sadder than they've been relegated but they fully deserve it. The last 10 years have just been one bad decision after another. Hopefully this stay in the Championship will help get rid of all the mercenaries and undo all this damage.

Other than that, I'm glad ManUtd won the Premier League instead of Liverpool. And glad Barcelona won the Champions League instead of ManUtd.

NBA
Finals have just started. And Cleveland isn't there! So eat that, Lebron.

Either one of the Lakers or the Magic will do very nicely as NBA Champions. May the best team win.

TV
Second boohoo, main TV season is over too. Summer season is now here and looks like there'll only be Burn Notice to watch until September.

Started watching The Office after enjoying the first 6 episodes of Parks & Recreation. And finished all five seasons in just over two weeks.

Finally finished the first season of Dollhouse. A couple of nice things in there but overall this show blows. Did not deserve a second season, anyway it's unlikely I will bother with it.

Just started watching Leverage. More interesting.
